Once upon a time...
The Credit Union was originally chartered and organized March 29, 1945 as R.C.D. Bell Federal Credit Union by 9 employees of the Rapid City District of Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. The first location of the Credit Union was in the basement of one of the members of the Board. It was organized to provide basic savings and loan services to its member owners. In 1961 the name of the Credit Union was changed to Rapid City Telco Federal Credit Union so that the name would be more uniform with other telephone sponsored credit unions.
The first field of membership read: Employees of the Rapid City District of the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company; employees of this credit union; members of their immediate families; and organizations of such persons.
Telco Highlights:
Through the years Telco FCU acquired several other SEG's (select employee groups). We also merged with Custer Community Credit Union and Hill City Community Credit Union. |
